Dr. Morcant Hollow returns to his family home near Ottawa at the urgent behest of his father's manservant. The old man is dying (or, hopefully, already very much dead). His brother Archibald is unaccounted for. The butler doesn't have much to say about anything and is altogether unreliable. An amber cat appears preoccupied with an empty tome of knowledge.
When Morcant discovers the Slingshot Time Machine (patent pending), the device delivers the mad scientist to the recent past, where he will come face to face with an adversary equal to himself in every regard. Such is the way of the family Hollow.
